Crown Valley Brewing Launches Barrel Aged Series

Crown Valley Brewing from Ste. Genevieve, MO has announced a new barrel aged series of beers, but the unique twist is that they are using barrels from their own winery.  Central and southern Missouri is a very vibrant wine making region, at one time producing more wine than California.  Crown Valley merges their wine and beer making skills for this project.  Right now it will only be on tap, but if it takes off expect to see these bottled.  I hope they do very well and we can eventually see beers aged in barrels from their distillery.

Ste. Genevieve, Missouri (June, 2011) – Crown Valley Brewing and Distilling Co., the leading producer of craft beer and spirits in Southeast Missouri, today announced that they have produced two new craft beers known as Barrel Select Big Bison Ale and Barrel Select Barnwood Blonde Ale.

The Barrel Select Big Bison Ale is 7.2% ALC by volume and brewed using two different American hop varieties. This beer is a robust Belgian style Dubbel with intense nutty, spice and dried fruit notes in the aromatic profile. The Big Bison Ale was barrel aged in red wine oak casks for 2 months, thus producing a buttery sensation on the palette with a body and consistence thicker than the average Ale. The Barrel Select Big Bison pairs nicely with grilled bison burgers and BBQ burnt ends. The Barrel Select Barnwood Blonde is 5.5% ALC by volume and brewed using Pilsner, Wheat and Cara Hell malts making the beer lighter in body.

The Barrel Select Barnwood Blonde is very smooth with faultless blends of Fuggles and Tettnang hops rendering this beer a tribute to a true European Ale, aged for 2 months in white wine oak casks this beer has hints of vanilla in the nose and a very mellow finish. The Barrel Select Barnwood Blonde pairs nicely with grilled chicken breast and BBQ pork.
