Happy St Patrick's Day. I hope everyone had fun, stayed safe, and didn't make too much of an ass of yourself. This year I wasn't feeling the Irish spirit so much. I thought I had forgotten to wear green altogether until a realized I was wearing Grinch boxers. Right color, wrong holiday. Part of it may be that it landed in the middle of the week. Kind of hard to get into party mode on a Wednesday. Part of it may be that I can no longer tolerate amateur drunks. A bunch of idiots drinking crappy beer dyed green does not make for a fun time. Here's a clue, real Irish don't drink green beer.
Kansas City does have one of the best parades in the country, but I have never been a big fan of parades. Just like NASCAR, it's like watching traffic, just slower. Maybe if it wasn't for the crowds I would enjoy it more.
So instead of going out, tonight I'm staying in. I have a sixer of Boulevard Irish Ale that I'm working on. I'm going to listen to a couple of Dropkick Murphys and Pogues tunes then call it a night.
