Beer Rangers Lead the Way...To More Beer

New Belgium just launched their new year round beer, Ranger IPA.  I dropped into my local Hy-Vee and saw no less than three end-of-aisle six pack displays, as well as sixers and 22 oz bombers in the cooler.  The six packs are priced at the standard New Belgium $8, and the bombers were $2.50.

22 oz bottle poured into a Dogfish Head tulip. Tall and chunky white head, well over an inch. Great legs on that head too. Slow to recede and keeps clinging to the glass. Nice lacing all around. Color is a clear copper. Clean bright coloring.

Smell has a mild pine hoppiness. It is clean smelling with a hint of honey sweetness. Taste is equally mild. That is not to say it is weak or bad. Far from that. It seems more relaxed and less intense than may other American IPAs and APAs.

Mouthfeel is very soft and smooth. That greatly increases the drinkability. This is not a challenging beer. If you want a challenging beer, get something from the Lips of Faith series. I like this a lot better than Fat Tire. This may be my new favorite everyday New Belgium.
