Boulevard Collaboration Celebration

Boulevard's Collaboration 1 should be hitting shelves in Kansas City early next week. This collaboration between Orval master brewer Jean-Marie Rock and Boulevard master brewer Steven Pauwels made big news when it was announced last fall. The two brewers decided to create an Imperial Pilsner using traditional brewing techniques.

To celebrate this event Boulevard is hosting a Collaboration party next Monday, January 18th, from 8 to 10 p.m. at Lawrence’s newest hotel, The Oread, in its Bird Dog bar. Boulevard is offering an open invite to all Boulevard fans to come out to the celebration. Jean-Marie is going to be back in town to help celebrate the launch, as well as Steven and John McDonald. As a KU graduate, John thought it would be a great opportunity for another collaboration and host the event at the new hotel located at 1200 Oread Avenue, Lawrence, KS.

I for one am looking forward to this. I had missed out on meeting Jean-Marie previously. I hope to see you there.

Cheers and beers!

  1. How is 14 Plato and 30 IBU an "Imperial Pilsner", thats slightly higher gravity and slightly lower bitterness than a regular Pilsner, and this beer doesn't have much hop character either.

I'm sticking with "Imperial Helles" as a much better description.

  2. Imperial "anything" other than a stout or IPA is still in a gray area. BA lists Southern Tier's Krampus Imperial Helles under the American Double/Imperial Pilsner category
